i have a barrel blank I would like to have built for an AR project. What is the tenon dimension for an AR barrel to install a barrel extension? Should the barrel be chambered first? Thanks for the help...

Hello Ron,

The print for an AR-15 Service rifle Barrel shows the tenon to be .620 long with a .125 "Crash" groove of that .620 total and diameter is .8125 @ 16 TPI Class 3A threads. I chamber as any barrel, the barrel extension is the action and the bolt is the bolt I get my measurements and chamber as normal, mostly. That's how I do it anyway, hope it helps.
