hello guys great site I need some advice from the home smith builders. I going to send a bolt to Gretna gunsmithing and have a sako type extractor installed and open the bolt face to 308 cal I have two choices I have a varmint 308 barrel coming and 243 standard barrel also is not 308 and 243 and 22-250 the same bolt face dia? After this is done how hard will it be if I buy the right tools barrel vice action wrench and head space gage to install the barrel my self ? I know it would be cheaper to have the smith do it but want the tools down the road to do other projects. Once I get the bolt will I have to lap or fit it to the action? or will the head space be the only issue? I am just building a hunting rifle first and as time goes by I will focus on blueprinting and trueing and such I know most people can do this as alot of people do it any pointers and advice on safety would be nice . I would also like to buy barrel vice and action wrench's want the best so only buy once and hand down to my sons. kim
