Got a new bullet (patent pending) that will be entering the market hopefully by summer, and I am looking around trying to find somebody capable of making a swaging die for it, professionally too since we will be making A LOT of these (30K unit batches).
Interested in what the bullet is? It is a legal armor piercing bullet, 5.56mm, able to penetrate Level III+ armor plates. Here is the link to my Reddit update on it if you want to read more about it:
Now, back to the main topic. I know of Corbins, David Detsch, and Niemi Bros Engineering. I had spoken to all of them about the original idea I had (tungsten tipped bullet), none were able to make a die for it. Niemi could but they are under a lot of DoE contracts that prevent them from working on armor piercing bullets and isn't something they want to "risk" anyways (the legality of this bullet is watertight, the Reddit post has the statement the ATF gives about a bullet like this, if curious). They did say to stay away from Corbins and Detsch makes okay dies, not sure about the accuracy of that so I took it with a grain of salt. It seems like Detsch is my best bet, but I would like to get a list of all the potential people who could make this bullet and talk to each one before deciding.
The bullet has a hard core, secant ogive, and a boattail; lead filler will be used to let this be swagable (like how you would swage Russian steel core bullets).
Anybody know of who else would be able to make production quality dies for this besides the ones I mentioned above? If you have dies from any of the mentioned, or anybody else, I'd love to how they are working for you as well!
