HI
I want to get the process of forming ppc cases from 7.62x39 boxer primed brass.
I have googled, yahoo'ed, meta searched- still cannot find a detailed process of converting 7.62x39 to PPC- the tools required and the steps to take.
Unless someone tells me a different and better way I plan to run the brass through an intermediate necking down stage,7mm or 6.5mm), turn the excess neck thickness off, anneal the necks, size to approx 272-274 thou in a Redding bushing dies and then turn to .268,loaded) for my 272 chamber. Load with 70 TNT's seated long and starting loads of Varget or Benchmark and fire form while I hunt.
Can you run into problems if you put to little heat into the necks when attempting to anneal the brass??
I'm looking to build a gas torch and conveyor to be able to do bulk brass conversion from 7.62x39 to 6 PPC and want to anneal the necks after the first pass through the neck sizing die. I am trying to calculate how quickly to set the conveyor so the cases are exposed to the flame for the correct amount of time.
The cases will then drop about 2 feet to a bucket of chilled or iced water. Can the water be to cold for quenching and cause shock embitterment from the rapid cooling??
I know it would be easier to just buy 6PPC USA Sako cases loads and use but at $160+ per 100 -don’t have the money. $20 per 100 for 7.62x39 and some, many) hours of my time I can get what I need.
Hours I got. $$ I don't.
Thanks
