Probably roasted 300 RUM barrel

I couldn't see the video, it would not play. My 300 Jarret had fire cracking 5 to 6 inches out form the throat and still shot for quite a while. I haven't looked down the RUMs but keep shooting it till you don't have to wonder if it is done you KNOW its done. If you don't need to put a match barrel on it CDNN has some Remington take offs for 29$ each, at lest they did last time I looked.

I don't see anything inside that barrel that is telling me it is done. It is really too clean if anything. Put a few rounds down range and then recheck for accuracy my guess is it will come right back to 3/4 MOA.

What did you use to clean this barrel to get it that clean? Did you just get your borescope?

500 rounds or so. Gun was shooting 3/4 MOA 5 round groups. Now 3 rounds are a bit over 1 MOA. I think she might be done.

Enjoy
It has fire cracking but no missing chunks. Is it CM or SS? What powder are you using? Have you adjusted seating depth for throat erosion?

H1000 and cool it properly and it’s easy to get 1000 rounds out of a 300 rum, the 7rum is a different story though.

I'm reasonably sure it's been fed mostly Retumbo, 7828, and for light bullets 4831.

Edit: and US 869

Not sure how much experience you have with loading hot rods like that. But I would add .3-.5 grains of powder and check lands length and extend them out before giving up. Rifles like that get 3 shot group and cool down

I clean mostly with Wipeout/Patchout and some JB on VFG pellets if I am feeling aggressive.

Mostly Reloder 26 and currently Reloder 33. Did try a pound of Retumbo early on. Current load is Berger 210 at 2950 fps 26" barrel with 97.6 gr of RE33 at 3.600" OAL.

Still have some loaded rounds so will see how that goes. Might just be me as I haven't shot for a couple months.

I usually just wait 2 minutes between shots. A longer OAL would be worth a try as right now I just load to 3.60". Haven't measured to the lands recently, but last time I think it was 3.750" to get to the lands with that bullet.

If it is taking you 4 minutes to shoot a 3-shot group, conditions can easily change enough in that amount of time to make a 1/4 MOA change. When I run larger capacity cases in a hunting rifle, I shoot three quickly and then let the barrel completely cool.

Its hard to imagine a RUM lasting 500rds. About 75 is pretty much it.

You have to be kidding, right? I have a 300 Tomahawk (300 RUM improved) with over 800 rounds and its still easy minute of deer at a 1000 yards. I'm running 96 grains of WC872 and 240 SMK's, it's a pretty stout load.

I knew there was someone else on the planet that was using WC872 I just didn't know who it was. Glad to meet you! Ive still got some put away.

If the accuracy is dropping off from what I see it is time for a new barrel the fire cracking seems to extend too far up for a setback

Well took her out and shot the remaining rounds I had loaded. First group was great. I was thinking huh, maybe it was just me. Next two groups were terrible.

I have two more barrels waiting in the wings, so off she comes. Could not get the barrel to budge. Ended up cutting it off. I heard the stories about getting the factory Remington barrels off, now I understand.
