Pro shot cleaning rods

A j shooter

Shoot often
I’m having trouble with my cleaning rod not rotating in the handles .
They replaced them once . You can’t take them apart to clean and they hang up on the in stroke and want brake loose until you tap on the handle. Anybody got a remedy.

Unscrew the long rod from the brass knob on the handle. Insert a old section of of a used three piece cleaning rod in the pro shot handle, chuck that section in your cordless drill. Oil the turning surfaces in the handle with Hobo oil and spin the heck out of it with the drill, you should be able to work it back and forth a little while spinning. This solved my problem, just keep it oiled some.

Going back now I think I sprayed brake cleaner in there first to clean it before oiling. Don’t do that because it tried to take the paint off the handle some. If you need to clean it first use Gun Scrubber or something mild.

You can not drive that roll pin out . the hole does not go all the way thru the handle.
They must have changed that so nobody could see how they work. Id drill the rollpin then continue the hole on thru, lap the inside then clean it out good and oil. Ive done it a few times and itll work for a little while. Your rollpin has wear on it against the rod is why its hanging up.

I got a tiny screw and got ahold of the pin and then pulled it out. I straightened it and put it back in.
That pin goes in a low spot milled around the rod.... Doesn't really work so good. I still use them though.

They've sent me replacements every time i emailed them ... Including my address in email.

I still think Patch Out is what gummed my handle up, but I like the product for copper and still use it. I haven’t had the problem since keeping it oiled.

My favorite rod is one I made from an old bicycle hub for the handle and a 48" carbon fiber tube. I machined a brass threaded insert for standard jags.
