Primers (Hardest to Softest)

Based on Cup Hardness, list the primers in descending order from (Hardest to Softest)

I’m reloading for a AR-308, and have started using the CCI No. 34 Primers (For 7.62 Ammunition), but I think these primers are too hard for my liking.

CCI No. 34

Generally speaking Federal is softest and CCI it's hardest with Win in between.

I'll stick with my Wolf/Tula primers as long as they last. Also had good results with the CCI # 41 Mil. Spec. SR primers in my gas rifles.

I was under the impression that the " Russian" SRM were the hardest. I checked my notes and one common notation was I often hear a very quick click/ BANG with the Russians in a custom 22BR...CCI 450 s do not do this. No such in a rem 700 chambered in 223 AI. Firing spring tension difference, probably?

I have never experienced that although I've heard of others that have. The only cartridge that those primers didn't perform well in was a 6.5x47L. I switched to CCI #450's and it started to shoot. The "Russian" sr-m primers work well in my Lapua sr primered Palma brass. All the cartridges with the exception of my 6AR are shot using Stolle Panda actions.
