Primer substitution Replacement for 210M

Opened my RCBS goody box up today and their is a flier inside for rebates.
Rebates on even CCI primers........AND Federal !

I allways try to keep Federal Match, CCI BR's and Tula as with some tweaking, I can use them all in a pinch.

I'm a Federal fan. Haven't seen any measurable/quantifiable difference between 210M & 210 over the many years I've used them.

What primer would be the closest? Standard 210's?

According to Federal folklore the only difference between 'standard' and 'M' versions is that the 'M's are made by the more experienced operators - the recipe and process are exactly the same.

When I was short of 210M I substituted 210 and couldn't tell the difference. But when I found a decent supply of M's I still sold-on the 210's - gotta love those experienced operators... ;)

Rox --- that is the same story I have heard on 210 and 210M.
Any more info??
The only quantitative comparison I've seen is this one:
www.castingstuff.com/primer_testing_reference.htm

It's a rather small sample, but it does back-up the idea that they are generally the same, but with a marginal improvement in consistency in the 'M' that may only be significant to statisticians or shooter psychology.

You may find more data on comparative velocity stats if you search.

Whether the operator story is true, or ever was, I have no idea. It could equally be that the batches that perform better during testing are given the 'M' designation, and this has been suggested in forums alongside the other story.

Interesting to note in the linked data is that the KVB-7, BR-2, and Win LRP's are "statistically" the best performers, Federals are the most sought after. Even though "statistically" they have a 50% higher SD.

I've always liked the KVB-7 LR primers. More often than not I get single digit SD, ES, when I chronograph a batch. Hard to beat the price when I bought them too.
