Primer Recommendation

Anyone have a preference for lighting off H4895 in a bolt action .223 Rem., 50 gr. bullets? Thanks all. Brian.

I like Rem 7 1/2 and CCI 450 for the jazzed up loads and CCI 400s for light loads/light bullets. Never had a .223 that was picky about primers while using H4895,they all seemed to work fine.

Thank everyone. I have several to choose from, was just seeing if anyone noted better SD, ES, etc., with any certain primer. Brian.

Rem 7 1/2, Federal A/R Match, CCI450, TULA Mag or Wolff Mag have all worked well for me. The SD, ES will depend on the load - as none of these is always better than the other - as is usually true of all primers.

After intial load development I test several primers side by side.
As mentioned previously I would avoid Remington 6 1/2 unless shooting a 22 Hornet

Sellier and Bellot gave me the best SDs with XBR in my 223 match rifle. They don’t seem to be super hard tho.
