Primer pocket tools

I've noticed that both PMA Tool and Sinclair have different tools for "small rifle" and "small rifle-Lapua 6PPC/BR". I didn't realize there was a difference. I have the K&M tool which is only designated small rifle. when using it to clean primer pockets it does a much better job on my .223 cases than on my 6BR cases. Is the pocket deeper on Lapua cases?

I believe that the PPC primer pocket is a couple of thousands deeper than the .223 It sounds as if the BR is also, although I do not know that for certain.

21st century makes a very nice, adjustable, primer pocket tool. I think it would adjust to just about anything. I find my deepest pocket, set the tool and the rest is just running the drill.

The PMA Lapua tool is 1 or 2 thousandths less in width than the small rifle version. It is adjustable, but a little on the awkward side to do so. It's a fine piece of work and doesn't enlarge the pockets. I have a large rifle tool from K&M and it made the pockets in my 243 Win get larger after each use (as felt when using the tool for cleaning the pockets after decapping).

YMMV
