Primer pocket restoring

Any one ever used one of these, looks like an answer to loose primer pockets ::)

Less powder. The trash can. Those are the two answers to loose primer pockets, in my opinion. If one isn't acceptable, use the other.

I used the hart tool. In my opinion, it was not worth the money spent. It lasted about 50 cases. It looks like the tool was not case hardened. I would take Dos XX 's advice.

I haven't had any primer pocket issues myself, just happened to run across this tool and wanted to see if any one had any real time experience with it, thought it might be an option when that time comes ???

I have one almost identical to that one from another outfit. Well made and has lasted but I agree with others that when one's pockets have loosened it is time for new brass. I had some PRVI 9.3x63 brass that came with unusually lose pockets out of the box (must have designed them for Russian primers!) and so used the tool with success for one firing. Then they were all lose again. The tool makes forms a rim around the mouth of the pocket that will just hold the primers firmly one time, then upon firing back to square one.

Hart did have a run of these that were not properly hardened, an aquaintance of mine got one and Hart made it right. I use mine on 338 Edge brass and it will get me 3-4 more loadings. A friend of mine uses one for 338 Big Baer (chey tac) brass and it keeps that pricey brass shooting.

I have the Hart. Total waste of money to only gain 2 to 3 more loadings.

After they loosen up again can't you just use the tool again if the only issue with the brass is loose primer pockets ???

Anyone ever thought about dipping the primer pockets in liquid oxygen/nitrogen. Would that maybe make them contract. I understand they will go back to normal or close to normal but would it maybe not expand ALL THE WAY back.

You can use it again but you reach a point of diminishing returns. When 300 RUM brass may as well have been made of unobtainium another few loading was well worth the money.

I had some gun powder issues with my 300 rum, as George did I wasn't looking for max but found it accidently and I didn't want to throw away all the time I spent neck turning weighing cases and all the other prep. The Hart tool I used was flared to the point of being unusable in 50 or 60 rounds because of not being heat treated. I was willing to pay for another and have it heat treated myself. The heat treat guy asked what the type of steel was used so he could get it right the first try. I called Hart and explained my problem and that I wanted to try again and was going to heat treat at my expense. The guy that "designed " the tool was asked to talk to me, when we spoke he got very mad and refused to give me the type of steel used and eventually hung up on me. I would concur with the others don't waste your time and money. RCBS makes a primer pocket tool that works in a press and some friends say it will tighten pockets. I have one but its too small to use on Ultra mag cases. I would love to try the tool that is in the drawing the other shooter posted.
