primer pocket inconsistancy

I bought 150 hornaday cases for my 204 and then a month later bought another 150. The first set had normal primer pockets when I used my uniformer but the second set I couldn't even get the uniformer in. I decided to primem and firem and I still can't get my uniformer in. What's up with this, anyone else have this problem?

did the primers seat ok? if so and you can clean them out after fireing with something else I would let them alone if it's just for varmint shooting.

Try checking the diameter of your primer pocket uniformer. They're not all made the same a .172 should be good and a .173 can be just big enough that you can't turn the tool in the pocket.

If you have trouble with the length you can buy an adjustable tool. Eric Sinclair makes a nice one at Possum Hollow Products.

its just weird that it works for some and not others. I tend to have a hard time drawing the line between application reality and too anal. The best I can tell is the outside diameter of my primer pocket uniformer is .174.
