Primer Comparison

Is there any difference between CCI 400 small rifle primers and the Winchester SR primers?

I have a load I want to work up for my 204 ruger but it calls out CCI 400 primers which I cannot find, but I have Winchester small rifle primers.

No two makes of primers are the same. Anytime you change anything in a load back off the powder and work back up. Even different lot numbers of primers or powder can make or break a load.

German Salazar wrote articles regarding both large and small rifle primers in PS about 5 - 6 months ago. It compared the burning rates of different brands. With a little research, you should be able to find them. Maybe someone on this board can identify the old issues.

Your starting from scratch in load development anyway, so don't worry about it. Load 'em up and go.
