priarie dogs in north dakota

I will be going through North Dakota in a couple of days and I was wondering if the prairie dogs were out yet? I have heard reports of them being out already due to the warm weather, I guess. I know here in Idaho the whistle pigs are out in force. I blew some up today!

Havent looked seriously of late, but if the weather is decent the dogs will be active. Problems with this time of year is road access, can be slick and crappy. Another thing to consider is the oil field boom traffic, it is beyond belief.

Besides, we have few prairie dogs in ND anymore. They all migrated to MT & SD years ago, the cold and flooding chased em out..

You can bait those North Dakota pd's with lefse. You betcha! Butter and a little sugar or some jam, yum.
If you are in the western part, go straight east from Sidney, Mt. and you will see pd's. Central part, go south from Mandan. Northern part, better wait until the gophers come out. East side, go fishing.

I live in Sidney, MT. The PD's here are REALLY gun shy. And with the amount that are out right now, you'd be lucky to shoot 20 rounds so don't waste your time there. Mandan might be good with the warm weather we've been having. Checked the gopher fields up north and they aren't out of hibernation yet. Your luck would be a lot better in about a month when the PD's dumb young come out and the gophers are out feeding for the first time. Good Luck!
