preparing for a cold bore tac shoot

what's the best way to prepare your gun for a cold bore tac shoot? will the barrel be more consistent with a little carbon or is it best to shoot one and clean etc etc. I have a very accurate ppc but I haven't really put much effort into cold bore accuracy yet. figured I would ask the experts. thanks ahead of time.

I always show up with 5-10 rounds down the barrel, and I don't clean until after I get home, get your brain ready for the mind game of a 1000 yard cold bore to start the match off with, its just that a mind game.

Brian's advice is good.

Most Tac shoots that have you shoot a coldbore shot gives you a target bigger then normal to shoot. This is to assure them that you and your rifle are capable of staying within the impact area. This is the norm when shooting on a piece of land that has tight boundries. If your dope is right, you'll be fine, and yes it can become a mind game.

guess I should clarify. its a cold bore shot at a thumb tac.

Now I'm laughing at myself. ;D I have a friend that has more coldbore X medals then he has fingers and toes. I don't have 1. ;D A thumb tac, now thats tuff.

You will have to experiment with your rifle. When I want first round hits at any range I always have some rounds down the bore first. If you know your rifle clean and cold and dirty and cold you should not have any problems hitting that tac.
