Prefit barrel for savage hunting rifle

What is the latest on prefit barrels? Any new manufacturers I should look at? I had a xcaliber done a couple years ago and have been plenty happy with it. Any reason not to get another one done from them? Stainless, Fluted, varmint contour chambered in 308 would be just under $500 does that sound about right in 2025? Going on a deer rifle I don’t think I will see the results of a top notch Kreiger or the like.
I considered a take off but looking around they are all going way higher than O would pay for a factory barrel. $200-350 seems nuts for that

Savage Barrels are traditionally installed with a Barrel Nut. All of the Suppliers mentioned on this thread offer Savage Prefit, Drop In Barrels. A Shouldered Barrel “can” be installed on a Savage Action. urbanrifleman offers “nut” Barrels and Shouldered Barrels.

My last two carbon fiber savage barrels were from X caliber and Preferred.
When I'm not using my own barrel nuts I use Urbanrifleman barrel nuts as they also don't require the use of a special wrench.

All those places are probably a good deal now.
A custom barrel now chambered by a well known Smith is $1000+ now.
