predator hunting

having sum problums calling them in iny advis im in mn sary spelchek isint werking tha wont reaspond to calling

Correct useage, spelling, and punctuation REALLY would make your question easier to understand. I don't understand your text.
Sorry, I can't tell if you're asking about culling(reducing quantity), calling(imitation of animals to bring closer), or cooling(you are in Minnesota and it should be cold now).
Sum= the result of addition.

Lots of times they wont respond to a call if it has been used a lot of times in the area your using it in. The electronic callers are educating them to that same old call time and time again.
Try a mouth call and put your heart and soul into it, that may help...

rph,
I can't spell either so don't worry about that, as far as your calling WHAT are you calling? If its coyotes you might have to get more vigorous with your calling or you might already be calling to much slow down, find what they want to hear by observing. Crows are smarter than you or I so I can't help you there, I learned what works for me but I can't explain it. Cats are stupid and if you can't call them in stop right now and find another hobby. There are some very good educational tapes on the market, get on the w.w.w and check it out or go to your local sporting goods store. Hope this will help.

Change it up some try a fawn in distress, fighting crows and so on dont be stuck on just one call the more you use and mix it up the less educated they will git and might just spark there attention

Im in Minnesota also. Ive been bowhunting just west of Buffalo, and the coyotes are really starting to pick their activity, i see more coyote tracks than deer now. I plan on hunting them soon as i bag another deer, ive been haveing a tough year and between me and my dad we dont have enough venison to last very long. But i plan on stating to coyote hunt soon as i get another deer... or the bow season ends.

But ive been hearing a lot of howling. It always starts out with a single coyote howl with a yip or two, they ten or so minutes later it will be a whole serenade going on of 6 or more coyotes howling and yipping at once. Ive tried my mouth coyote howler after i walk to the car, i dont get any coyotes howling back to me and its too dark and im too cold to sit around and see if one or two come to check out the strange howl i just made. Distress calls are a good way to go, but its the time of year where they are going to be getting more interested in other coyotes so a howler call with the proper practice will be a good way to go also.

Coyotes are smart bastards and i have a lot of trouble with them, ive spent a lot of time hunting for coyotes with only a couple pelts to show for it. I hunt for coyotes as an excuse to get out into the woods when there is no other season open, i dont hunt coyotes to actually succeed.

im just west of branerd in aitkin i got a howler to but thay ar not interested. i had wun jump in the dear stand with me iny coments

if they wont come when we call we go to them, use the snow track them down, find thier den or ware the like to eat thier kill, we hunt them at night to and have so so luck with that, we have very good luck with mt. lion in distress to, which is wierd cause we dont have any around here, we do have bobcat but theres no season for them ;D we have never had luck with cotton tail distress..... around here they dont work anyways, keep after them

It only makes sense hunters in your area know you dont have mt lions so they dont bother trying so when you do try it something theyve never heard before they respond alot better theyre just not educated to it. Which is always worth a shot dont not try a call just cuz you may not have that animal in your area that coyote dont know

I have had the same problems last year but I found coyote howls worked . You might howl 2-3 times then set at least 10-15 min before doing anything else. Good Luck

Not a problem hoss6br! Predators are smart in everyway you just never wanna over think the small things

I drive around the night before I actually want to hunt to locate the dogs by howling, mark it on my GPS, and go back the next day or later. You can't call something in if it doesn't live there. I know they travel and have excellent hearing but odds are definately in your favor if you strike near their home or favorite spots to hunt for food. I almost always open a set with an interigation howl then sit and wait. Out here in the west they usually answer pretty quick or at least pop their head up to see what's making the noise. I use mouth reeds as I can't ever make the same exact howl twice. Jack and cottontail distress work great out here but electronic callers are like tallywackers out here..... every man has one! We only use digital when they're inside of 300 yards. Hand calls work great for my brother and I and I have to agree that something new and even strange will bring in even the most wary dog! How long do you wait before ending a set? Are you very still while calling? Do you make sure your scent is covered? In my opinion everything favors the dog, they're survivors and aren't easy to fool. Keep trying and be patient! Good luck!

i thing i have noticed with coyotes is that they get smart really quick, so if your calling and they see, hear or smell anyhting that does not seem right they will be gone before you ever see them. also when your calling you have got to sound like your dieing coyotes are opportunist they want the easy meal so the more you put in it the more likely
they will be to come to it. i had the same problem you are having and then i asked this old fella what do i need to do?
he told me to blow into the call as hard as i could for about 30seconds and then wait 1-2 min and do it agian. the next time i went out i done this and within 5 min litteraly a coyote came runnin out of the woods and this was in the summer when they aren't in danger of die from the cold. i missed that dog but that was my own fault for not knowin what to do when i saw him, i got excited and started throwin lead. i hope this helps without me sounded like a know-it-all. good luck
