DASHER DOME
Sunday I fixed a couple of different egg racks up and needed a shooter. I called Preacher, aka Anthony Hale and he was available. "Be there in 30 minutes". First he tried the Egg plate that has an egg shaped hole in the center so that the egg can be recessed back behind the plate to avoid shrapnel. I applied silicone around the edge of hole to cushion the egg against because the bullet concussion on plate will break the egg.
Preacher fired a sighter and went on the plate. He was hitting within an inch of the hole and at shot 4 or 5 the egg disappeared
Next I had an egg hanging from a thin piece of aluminum electric fence wire. Egg was craddled in a loop. The first couple of shots impacted into the lime berm just missing the egg by inches. On 4th or 5th shot I saw Yellow Yoke flying to the left.
Rifle for the egg attempts was the Todd Sobey Bat M Dasher. Bullet was 103 Vapor Trail
Next we took green gorilla tape and taped a quarter to the plate. Put a dot of orange tape of the quarter for aim point. Preacher took four or five shots and was hitting withing an inch. Now I watched the orange dot over the quarter and on next shot the orange dot disappeared. We didn't find the quarter. Since it was against metal the shrapnel may have vaporized it. But the orange dot formed a ring around the bullet inpact, Very KOOL!!!!
The quarter attempt was a stainless Rem 700 BR Ackley
