Pre War Walther back on the firing line.

I bought this old Walther via internet auction a few years ago. Like most 22s it has ammo it likes and ammo it doesn't, and unfortunately the only ammo it likes (accuracy wise), is SK Standard +, which was also the only ammo it will not reliably fire ( light strikes). After all these years I decided to try and fix it and after polishing the firing pin ram inside the bolt, making a new trigger bar spring, adjusting the trigger and shortening the rear action screw so I could actually tighten it, it is now working as intended. At 35 yards it will stack bullets into the same hole. It's always a joy to bring these old rifles up to snuff.

What model is that good lookin girl? I have a Walther Running Boar and it too likes SK Plus.

@dteamer There is no model designation visible but i've found some on the net and they call them "Banner". It's a single shot heavy barrel. It looks like it might be barrel and action are one piece, but there is a hint of separation but if it is, it's the best fit I've ever seen. It has a 6 o'clock firing pin and a 2 o'clock extraction. The trigger is adjusted through a hole on the right side of the stock, firing pin tension by a screw on the back of the bolt.

That pre-war Walther appears to be a Neues (New) Sportmodell V.

They are indeed very similar, and like with most guns there were probably several option levels. Mine doesn't have a safety, the top of the receiver has an integral dovetail that extends down the barrel, there is an additional machined slot at the rear of the receiver on the left side below the dovetail, there is no rear iron sight grove, it has a grip cap, and instead of the large finger grooves in the forearm it has fine checkering.

This one here is much the same as mine; note the bracket for a rear side mounted sight on the receiver.

It must be a pleasure to own such a fine example of old world quality. This is the first time I've seen a Walther 22RF rifle of this vintage - thanks for posting!

It certainly is . But was a total fluke, it was going cheap at the auction and I placed a bid on impulse, not knowing what it was. Glad it's mine for now.
