I have an old mod 12 with EXTENSIVE engraving and gold inlay.

Trying to ascertain its value if sold.

I’ve emailed Pauline the Guru and she says while the engraving is very nice it’s not factory

Anybody out there have an idea on its value?

Appreciate you looking

26 in WS-1 skeet choked barrel if you can’t read it. Also has ivory front bead and gold or brass mid bead.

A very nice looking M12. To really get top dollar for it, it needs to be in a higher end auction. Yes the auction house will get a cut of the sale, but they will get bidders you won't find any place on your own. I will hazard a guess of someplace between 2500 and 5000. Yea, that is a big place.

Pauline MUERRLE former Winchester engraver.

Thanks Walt. If that was Winchester engraving auction house would’ve been my first call.

I guess maybe now my second.

Model 12 guru’s and folks that know them very well are fewer and fewer every day. Just lost two that were close to me in the past couple of years.
They are like model T and A’s, few know how to work on them or even interested.
Most of the young folks want the designer, composite type shot guns.
It may be a regional thing, but I see Model 12’s sell for less or no more than they did 20-30 years ago when there was a strong following.

I am down to one model 12, duck bill trap, with after market wood that is very pretty. Buddies told me it was pimped out and ruined as far as desirable or collectible.

Factory engraving would be nice, but what it has is very high end and nicely done. Only my M12 28 ga is engraved. It is factory but no where near as fancy as yours is.
