Prayers for Floridians

The RV park in Port Richey where we spend winter is in Evacuation Zone A west of US19. Authorities in the area are predicting 12+ feet of storm surge. Though the park took a couple feet of flood water during Idalia last year, only 1-2 units were flooded. There are a number of full time residents there refusing to evacuate and frankly are risking their lives. I don't get it. After what happened to Fort Meyers?

Looks like the beaches played havoc along the west coast . They can be rebuilt.

Friends Grandmother just moved to a retirement community
in Ocala. I seen on the news, Ocala got hit with a tornado !!

We survived with no damage. A couple inches of rain and 40-50mph winds. When we decided to move to Florida a couple years ago we knew that we didn’t want to be close to the coast. We were snow birds for 11 years living in Naples in the winter, survived 2 hurricanes. Repaired damage both times.

That was my old fishing spot, I was living on that island working as a mechanic. South jetty, caught a lot of fish there. Never would have expected to see that. Sad.

I spoke with my next door neighbor in Port Richey. He and his wife live full time in a 5th wheel RV. They left as the water was rising last night. He was able to get into the park this afternoon. He said total devastation. Some wind damage but everything and everyone was flooded and many cars were under water. Thankfully, no one was hurt. We may not be going to Florida for winter this year.

Well, the good news is that it might be your new fishing spot if you make it back to that area. The fish don't leave when there's a storm.

We don't normally get those type of storms out west, but as most know, we do get our share of earthquakes. I have been through some of the biggest in CA when I grew up in L.A. I do firmly believe that if there is every "the big one", there's gonna be a lot of damage. I'm gonna say the Sylmar quake was worse to go through than the Northridge, despite me being many more miles away. Was also in the Whittier on the 27th floor of a Security Pacific Bank building, the building was on rollers...that was quite the ride...we had a guy start the day before, he left his books and everything at his desk, left and never came back...Hmmm...not even to get paid for those 2 days...:-/ My worse experience in Banking, October 19, 1987. My first production application made it through with flying colors (real time stock quotes). The executives, OTOH, were not not so happy, pointing the finger at me for being different than Reuters. Turns out my software was correct, the Satelite dish never went down. I offer any of you my sympathy with Hurricanes or Tornados.

Do you know, did she make it through ok?
