Prairie dog population South Dakota

How is the Prairie Dog population doing in central South Dakota? We are headed out in a few weeks and last year seemed a lot slower than years past.

the places i go seem to report about the same, some towns up and some down. but still plenty of them around

Still going down. We assume plague is continuing to move through the area we used to shoot. We’ve moved on.

Plague is killing off towns again in some areas. The plague die offs are becoming more frequent.

I met a rancher who would put a cat in a small pet carrier take it to a dog town that had the plague.He would feed and water it for a week or two then move it to a town that didn't have the plague. You can guess the rest of the story.

That's pretty smart. It sucks for guys that want to shoot them but if it was my ground I'd probably do the same thing.
