Präzipress?

Gentlemen,
With the gents information the total price at todays exchange rate is right at $711 and change SHIPPED... Duty is something we will have to take a closer look at. I actually placed an order on the website and they were very friendly and straight forward about the process. It takes about 6 weeks on their end. I'm almost afraid to ask Customs what, if anything, is owed. I can just see the same look the Post Office gave me when I tried to assure them it was legal to send a rifle through REGISTERED mail...

I know the presses are expensive, however, at the current price of the euro they are at their cheapest rate in a long, long time...

Regards, Matt.
I don't have the harmonized number in front of me for a press, but I would GUESS somewhere in the 3-6% of the value range. That is only a guess though. You can call your local CBP office, ask for 'trades' and someone can tell you the duty rate after they look it up. Ask for the tariff number and duty rate with CO (country of origin) Germany. It may be free if the item falls in certain categories. Nothing you need to do now, the carrier will process the paperwork for you. You will pay them and they pay Customs. You might try this number..8462.10.00.55 Harmonized classification when talking to them. That shows 4.4% duty but has a subnote that I can't locate. Those usually mean exceptions or something.

Alberta tactical rifle supply makes a nice press. Google is your friend

Wait until you see the press it is a work of art

I have a brother living in Alberta , due home for a holiday in September !

Mike.

Gentlemen,
I would like to thank everyone for their input. I am much obliged...

Danny,
I would like to thank you once again. You have gone absolutely OUT OF YOUR WAY to be helpful. I'm much obliged... I also appreciate the press porn, however, I was largely sold... ;-). Are you buying one?

Dick,
Your posts have made this a little less daunting. Much appreciate an experts opinion...

IdahoSharpshooter,
I really did not know when I mentioned the press on AR, however, you can go directly to the website and order the press and give them your information. Mr. Turban will get in touch with you in a couple of days about the details. I really don't have anything to do with it... If you want one of the presses you might take a look at the website and place your order.(no financial commitment taken up front, this evidently done at some point before shipment). His email said they have to file paperwork for shipping the press out of Germany and/or the EU which will take 6 weeks. You may want to get in line. Due to the fall of the Euro it is FAR more reasonable that it would have been a year or two back. I'm looking at the basic Prazipress which is the smallest, however, it is good to .338 Lapua and that will take care of anything I need. He has two other heavier presses, the 120mm and 140mm Heavy Duties which you may want to consider. I know you are in to the boomers but I don't specifically remember what your cartridges are... The 120 adds 100 euros and the 140 adds 200 euros(which really appears to be a .50 BMG Press, and NO AT ALL out of line price wise, especially when you consider what I have been told is "boutique" quality from a custom press.)

The Prazi with VAT subtracted and 110 euros of shipping and handling comes out to be right at $711 delivered. The conversion is basically 1 Euro equals $1.10 there abouts at the moment...

In all truth this press would likely be priced well outside of the market if we were at euro to dollars seen in 2014. This is a great opportunity if you are impressed with the product. From everything I have seen and been told I am very much impressed...

Regards, Matt.

Which is like 222 dollars in USA currency

JEFF

Gentlemen,
All kidding aside that press is right at $848.24 in US Dollars. Not a bad design, however, I have seen a number of similar presses that are of excellent quality that leave me looking for a reason to invest in that unit. If I were looking for a huge best quality twin bolt design I would look to Corbin's S or H Press. I don't know that anyone has really excelled their design or execution. Take the time to read through the presses construction... CSP-1 is listed at $739.00 with LOTS of options...;)

Granted if you want something larger they have the CSP-2 MEGA-MITE press, at $1398(ouch) which you can use to draw bullets up to 20mm. I NEED one of those...;-)

Personally I'm looking for a little bit of extra length, ability to use the PMA micro die adjusters as my Co-Ax is a no go, and a bit of refinement.

The Corbin Products are amazing, however, even the CSP-1 is large. The CSP-2 weighs 70 plus pounds for the press alone. That said you get into making your own bullets in a first class manner...

We are defeated by the German bureaucracy. The paperwork for one press will take 6-8 weeks, minimum, and then it could be shipped. From here I can drive over to Corbin's shop and pick one up in person, and for less $$$.

sigh...

Rich,
I don't know as what I told you is written in stone. I was just a bit over taken by the EUC END-USE CERTIFICATE, that I have to fill out, and have Christian apply on my behalf to The Export Control Authorities of The Federal Republic of Germany. Long story short I was just amazed at the paperwork involved in Germany to buy a reloading press. Same paperwork as to buy a bolt action rifle and an O/U of S/S Shotgun! I still have to complete it and get it back to them.

The ONLY reason I put the information above about the EXCELLENT Corbin Presses was to give interested parties a more contemporaneous option, that I think is a FAR more refined "Super Heavy" than the "Alberta Clipper" or whatever the Canadian Press above is named(Canucks, I highly respect you guys, I'm just kidding, you are America's sole ally. Looks like a nice press, however, it does not appear to be built quite as well as either Corbin...fwiw & imho. Hands on both would tell the tale)

Rich spending money on Guns(custom rifles are my weakness), Krieghoff K-80s, Anschutz, etc, reloading gear, and components is something I am far too good at... I tend to be VERY detail oriented and have expensive tastes, however, I don't go for anything that I don't have a use for... While the Corbin is a MASTERFUL Product, I was offering it as an alternative to the Canadian ACCU-MAXX regarding build detail and quality. While I have used an older Corbin Press in the past helping friend make bullets I was more than anything offering them as an example of best in their class design and execution. That said, make no mistake, they are a TRUCK and largely lacking in the finesse department. The whole idea behind the Prazipress was both superbly refined AS well as superbly accurate... I have NO intention of canceling my order.

Only thing I would say is make certain you are happy with a F-550 Powerstrok Diesel Crewcab Chassis Cab and not that Convertible Jaguar we discussed you driving earlier today before you buy a Corbin. You will NOT feel like James Bond loading handloads to smoke check Goldfinger on a Corbin. Instead picture your self working at an expensive work station in a manufacturing plant. Not bad, just different, and descriptive...

I have no use for a Corbin, however, I can appreciate them on build quality and engineering alone. That said THAT much stroke would be miserable, imho, for normal loading arrangements. Though ram travel MAY be able to be limited. I know it can be in bullet making mode....

This is absolutely your purchase, however, I don't consider it fair to pollute the well for Mr. Turban on the basis of having to fill out a form. As far as I know the paperwork should be approved, however, it is required. The time frame was 6 weeks. Not 6-8 weeks at a minimum. I don't think following the rules is a great deal of pain to endure to try, what MAY BE one of the finest presses, the world has to offer. It is usually challenging to obtain small run boutique products largely made on request and NOT a Wally World item. I'll jump through the hoops and hope it measures up. I suspect it does... Respectfully.

You just ran into Germany's version of ITAR. It's based on non-proliferation of weaponry. Imagine a 100 of these set up in a basement in Syria. It's just a license to export and tells them where it's going. You selling a Dillon to Germany would be the same thing here. Good luck and be patient.

Hello Guys,

reloading presses are listed as "war equipment", there is no chance to skip the paperwork, otherwise we get a lot of trouble with the government...
It's totally crazy, even reloading dies are listed as this.

As a new rule, we need that enduser certificate for every order now, until last week we only needed it for non-NATO states, now for everyone.
Maybe it's because there was a terroristic attack in Germany.

Unfortunately we can't change it, and have to deal with the slowness of german bureaucracy.
But if you have the patience, it will be worth it.

Best Regards,
Thomas

I am glad that a lot of this discussion in this thread has helped to get a lot of this cleared up and started for you, and that it is working out to look like you will end up with one of these. I will be curious to see your postings upon receipt and first use of this press. I also appreciate nice tools. Like you, I also have a Forster Co-Ax.

Danny
