Practice Shooting BR Style

Shooters
This is a good topic for today. I was planning on going to Pala to practice with my new gun and get the scope settings I am going to desperately need for next Sunday's 200-600m Pala Shoot. I got up at 4 this morning to pre-load. Figured I could finish 100 loads by 6:30 eat and be on the road by 7:30. Takes a little over an hour to get to the Pala Range from Upland.
Things didn't work out that way. Yesterday my smith spent his own good time reducing the heads on my 100 6.5x47 Lapua cases to fit my Remington bolt that is a PPC size bolt face. Cases turned out a neat fit to the bolt face and allowed me to lift them out after the bolt was opened. Everything was going as planned for a Monday practice date at Pala. This is where I screwed up. What I should have done yesterday afternoon was at least primed the cases saving me that time this morning. If I would done that I would have found out that each case had to be hand fitted to fit my priming tool. I thought they would fit my Lee tool no way Sergio. My usual priming tool is a K&M but they use the same Lee shellholder. For production work like these 6x47 cases I grab the Lee. PPC head measures 0.439 my 6BRS heads that were 7BR heads cut down to fit a PPC bolt face measure 0.444. These now 6x47 Lapua heads measure 0.4905. The 0.4905 fit in the PPC bolt fine and with my smiths new CNC lathe they all measure 0.4905, my smith is careful with his work. I told him my deal he felt bad. But told me he would like to use another tool to re-cut the lip. I told him I had already started to hand fit each case. I found a #3 RCBS shell holder that cases would barely squeeze into. I confided to myself that I couldn't finish and make the range today. I probably saved myself a 3 hr drive home on the I 15 on Labor Day. Called the guy I was supposed to shoot with at Pala he said it wouldn't have worked out shooting today. Open range day 40+ shooters had the range tied up.
Well now I will go to Inland range next Saturday hoping I can get on and sight-in for 200m. John said if I get a good 200m setting he'll help me with the 300-600m sightings next Sunday at Pala. Helps to have friends in shooting. John is setting up 7 rifles some for the Berger bunch and others for next Sunday's Pala Shoot.
Sometimes practice shooting only goes on in your head. Like Mr. Miagi said 'focus Daniel son, focus'.
