I already knew our power grid was a issue. The winter storm texas had a few years ago among others.
I know we prolly have a few preppers in this forum. However this video makes me more pissed off at our politicians and local government.
They are saying out of all the sub stations we have ,it would only take 9 of them being destroyed etc for the United States to go dark.

The climate communists have been speaking about the earth human population, it should "return" to 500 year ago numbers. That means 5 billion need to die. Only way to reach that, rapid food and disease crisis along with shorter lifespan. Lifespan averages also drop from exposure(heat/cold).

Our Electrical Infrastructure has had little to no upgrade in years. Get use to "rolling blackouts" this to me is a disgrace!

But make sure you buy an electric car. The ones pushing them don't seem to realize how much strain they will be on our electric grids,or they do know and it's just a way to control how much or how far we can travel.

I have a 3.2Kw solar system.. Energy is stored in a 300 Ah Lithium Iron Phosphate battery i got from Big Battery. com... I don't run a/c. It is nice up here except for August...lol..

Edit: I bought my system from Blue Pacific Solar. It is pretty much plug and play system. The Charge controller, and inverter were prewired. Simple to hook up and get going.

Unfortunately the downside of unreliable energy(solar,wind) is manufacturing reduction. So parts, batteries, micro processors availability falls. So even living "off the grid" is at risk.

the thing is that china makes the a majority of the transformers. It usually takes 6 months to get a supply or them if needed. Now with the war with Ukraine the wait time is 2 years...
The United states needs to pull there head out of there asses and start makein them. It just like everything else WE need to make them in the USA.
Getting stuff from China has consequences, they can put chips in the transformers and shut down everything'

I saw recently that there is a us based transformer company who is hiring. That would explain the demand.

As for grid stability, the grid pays providers for the real power they provide, and most of them provide at very high power factor, which maximizes their incomes and minimizes the stability of the grid against disruptions. The big northeast blackout is an example. There are hydropower providers who do nothing but shift grid power factor for stability and they make good money doing it, but I don’t think they can react quickly enough to a major disruption and FERC only pays for the minimum amount of stability they need at any given time.

While the Texas power grid seems particularly poorly run, they all need major policy, infrastructure, and management changes.

Our power grid is in danger from three or four different directions when you consider transformer shortage and infrastructure issues, simple supply shortages at maximum use times, natural disasters, man-made sabotage, --

There was just an article in the WSJ about the transformer shortage and the electrical steel shortage. Guess we need still more "re-shoring".

I researched the ups and downs, bought two 1,000 gallons underground propane tanks and a 23 KW air cooled generator. Runs 3 buildings for over a year. The adz clowns can do as they wish.
The solar, wind, climate change is just one more scam. I just watch and wait, The head of Backstone's daughter is in the administration, they already have the exclusive rights to transport urea fertilizer in the US, power is a joke compared to food and water and the government bureaus have moved to control the supply of water....

Pretty sure you can’t “shut down” a substation transformer with a “chip”… that’s not how it works.

Maybe he’s referring to a breaker/circuit switcher? Who knows, the public thinks everything is a transformer, if it’s on a pole, a green box, or in the substation. They like to say the word transformer.

America needs to make our own everything, again. But that’s not going to happen.

Instead of worrying about the integrity of the grid and the cost to upgrade, it would be simple to implement new regs to incentive and eventually require new homes to come with passive solar water heating and solar panels. When I was in Israel 15 years ago the water heaters were required, and are little more than black pipes on the roof.

OH YEAH......Drill a well if you can ground water can be filtered. Solar is ok and being in the electrical field for many years I feel battery technoligy is not quite there yet. They are way expensive and a land fill disaster to manufacture and dispose of at end of life cycle (remember nuke plants years ago) are we repeating our mistakes!

Yes a system would need to be sized for the amount of energy needed. I have a propane refrigerator and an electric chest freezer, also a small beverage cooler. No A/C. But I live where it is hot only one month and just run a fan at night. I can go about 7-8 days with zero sun. I do have a generator to charge the system if needed.

The way more important and pressing issue for the TPTB is to have a cabinet appointee that wears a dress and steals other people's luggage.
