Powder?

Superformance! 3800+ fps with 70-gr bullet in 6mm Rem from a 24-in barrel. Top that.

And for the "no practical difference between 243 Win and 6mm Rem" crowd, that's 150 fps faster than 243 Win will do. As Mark Twain once said, that's the difference between lightning and a lightning bug.

I still have a pound of Win 785 but unless I am mistaken as happens often it was discontinued some years back. I shot it in the 80's and 90's in both the 243 and 6mm. Back then I used it with 85gr bullets mainly.

I have been using IMR4831 and RL19 for my 243 and 6mm varmint loads with 75gr bullets but have been thinking some of testing with IMR4064 and Win 760.

I am probably the odd man out with the 243's and 6mm's but I have never had that much luck with IMR4350 over the years. I have always had much better accuracy results with IMR4831 with the various bullet weights in both calibers.

George - 785 was discontinued by Winchester around 1984 or so. I bought mine from Jeff Bartlett 15 years ago at $65 per 8 pound jug. He does not list this powder anymore. In the last 2 years I have gotten 16 pounds sealed at gun shows (same lot as mine) for around $80.00 each.I would advise you to try the pound you have and if you like it keep an eye out for these 8 pounders that show up from time to time. I don't shoot benchrest with it.Just prairie dogs.
WC 852 SLOW = WIN 785
WC 852 FAST= H380

IMR 4064, bullets 80 grain and under; IMR 4350 bullets 85 grain and heavier.

The best long range varmint bullet I've ever found for my four 243's is the 80 grain Sierra Blitz bullet back by IMR 4064. This bullet is extremely accurate in all my 243's and has outstanding terminal performance.

Another excellent all around bullet is the Sierra 85 grain boat tail hollow point back by IMR 4350. I've shot varmints, predators and medium sized white tails with this bullet and it performed without fail.
