powder of choice for 7mm-08 Please!

Wayne they are supposed to be the same. I still take the time to work my loads up because even different lots of the same powder can have a little different burn rates. Glad I use that practice a lot of RL22 would have taught me a bad lesson.

You will find some good loads in Hodgdon Number 26 & 27.

Wayne,
Every load in the Hodgdon online data site is exactly the same for those two powders. I like and shoot H414, never had the W760.

Thanks Wallypedal I thought I had read that somewhere,I didn't get the chance to try any today I was to busy haveing fun ringing to gongs with the load camac gave me,by the way camac Thanks I would have stunbled across it probably as I am not new to working up a load but it saved me a lot of time,I think the load you suguested was 42 gr of varget I ended up with 40grains It only took me 13 peices of brass to accomplish that, one fowler, 6 shots with Imr-4350,then 3 with 42 gr of varget and the last 3 shots were the load I ended up with. I rang the gong's about 30 times today. Now I only have a 21" barrel and a mild load of varget so my MV isn't very impressive, only 2671fps, My largest group @ 400yds today was under 2"
I had several under 1" I just can"t believe how well this inexpensive rifle/scope combo performs I am amazed. I am going to shove it on out to the 500 and 600 yard gongs tomorrow. I did scope some live deer tonight with it and I am not sure if its going to be a very good low light scope will play with it some more tomorrow.
Thanks all.
Wayne.

I found this thread looking for 7mm08 loads. I have to thank you. I worked up to 43.0 of Varget with 140 Sierra GK's and let me tell you... They wallop. Three deer DOI. Not to mention that they are super accurate with zero signs of pressure. The T3 really likes this load! Thanks Guys!

Wayne,

Just a thought. Could you purchase a magazine for a 30-06 to load longer to get to the rifling. If I am dead wrong please correct me. o_O Happy Holidays.

Thanks, Paul
