Powder Measure Modification - Passing it Along

I just want to share my powder measure modification.

I was tired of unscrewing the measure from the stand to dump the powder out so I modified the stand to accept a Hornady Lock-N-Load system. I machined the external threads off of the Lock-N-Load press adapter. The o.d. ended up at 1.125" diameter. Then I bored out the stand and faced off the top surface. I mounted the modified Hornady Lock-N-Load adapter in the stand with LocTite 638 bearing mount adhesive.

Now I can remove the measure with a quick twist to return the powder to the container.

Makes sense to me! Good thing you’re equipped and experienced enough to undertake the machine work needed. (I’d be struggling with files to do the same!)

I’m a fan of Hornady’s adapters for the dies I swap in & out of my R’chuckers. Dies fixed in my Harrell’s discs don’t get changed out so the adapters have no value there so it’s good they wouldn’t fit anyway!

I like that! I wish a company would offer that to those of us that don’t own a lathe or milling equipment.

Could you just braze, weld the female L-N-L adapter to a 'custom" stand of your own design and avoid some of the machine work.

On my RCBS uniflow measure, I removed the threads and use a die lock ring to hold the measure on the stand. Quick and easy.

I did not know Hornady already made one. Looks like a winner.

I built a powder measure stand out of aluminum channel; I used this

to mount the LNL adaptor. I also bought a threaded "nut" that locks that thing onto the sheet aluminum, but I couldn't find it on Midways site this time. I believe it was made specifically for mounting LNL adaptors to sheet metal.

I have a pma powder measure stand with a 7/8 hole drilled in it. I use a die locknut under it and a quick loosening of the table clamp it comes right off so you can dump it and everything is out of the way with no clamps- and looks good. The lnl bushing is a good idea too

yours is slick, for sure. i grew up with shade tree engineering out of necessity... hence i just put my bracket on a heavy base:

and pick it up and dump it out when done.

however, (loading a lot of .20 cal stuff) i wanted complete visibility into the throw... watching for bridging, etc. hence, i attached this funnel loosely so it floats and vibrates naturally and i get to watch for any spillage:
