Powder measure for handgun cartridges

Hello,
I am just getting into the handgun loading and I want to still do it with a single stage press. I have loaded about 350 rounds now and with 357 mag. loads and the hotter .40cal loads my harrels premium works excellent but I have tried to dope it to through less than 6 grains and it just won't., Yes I know that 6 is the lowest it is supposed to go.) I am looking at that lee perfect measure but never used one. I know I can buy the shutzen pistol measure from harrels but that is half the price of a dillon. I am trying to stay on the cheap, cause I am looking to invest in a dillon 550.

Sincerely,
Mike

Power measures for pistol loading are an important tool.

I would advise spending a little more money and get a quality measure. I have a Lyman 55,culver type)that is over 50 years old.

I have an RCBS that is over 35 years old, and 7 Dillons aging from 2-27 years old.

I have a Redding that is also over 25 years old and two Hornaday LNLs and one Quick Measure that are about 3 years old.

I had a Lee Disk measure and gave it away. Found out is was not up to my job requirements.

I am with Rustystud on this one. I have RCBS that I have had for 42 years, Dillon from 15 years and for 2 years Redding. It is worth the money to buy one of them. I have probably 15 of the dillon set ups and they do very good on my pistol loading. I do all of the pistol loading with them on the 550. I just check every tenth as was taught me. I find them accurate enough for all my self defense and target. I weigh out each charge on every hunting round I load, as I feel the long range pistol shots are so critical when hunting at longer range. I don't ever want any game to suffer when I kill it.

I guess that I should use my usual logic: can't afford to do it right but can afford to do it twice. LOL Thanks, I appreciate the advice and I do believe that I will go for the rcbs or the redding.
Thank you,
Mike
