I built a .458 Socom. I would like to shoot my cast lead bullets. This requires a flared case. I have the Lee powder through die. I have a Dillon 550 with a ,223 conversion. I would like to use the lee die on the dillon but that presents a problem with the Dillon powder measure. The Dillon powder funnel does not flare the case.
So is there a way to mount a dillon powder measure to a Lee powder through die? Can a RCBS Uniflow be used? Or what Lee powder measure works with their die. I will be using IMR 4198 stick powder.
I load the 450 Bushmaster in the 550 Dillion. Size off the Dillion always... except pistol and revolver rds with carbide dies.
And shoot 185 to 500 gr bullets in a 16 twist 450 B
Similar case capacity similar reloading options.
1st station flare with Lee flairing die and prime (it's already sized.)
2nd station use Hornady LNL powder measure to charge case, with auto case activated linkage installed.
3 rd station seat bullets
4 th station crimp with Lee factory crimp die.
Lee makes a universal case flaring die for about $15 that will flare most any reasonable cartridge, so you can really flare if ya have to...but this works great.
I have 900 cases to load... only have a few 500 gr jacketed and shot up most of the 500 cast in the 45-90. But the big 500 gr work great as subs.. looked at Lee 500 gr 457 dia mold to resize as a possible...but was looking for 600 gr to play with.
Some interesting molds out there, but most are out of stock. The above will work for ya, works great for me...pump the handle install a case, seat primer, install bullet, index... everything else is automatic.
