powder for .338 Lapua

wboggs

Gold $$ Contributor
Anyone used MRP or MRP2 with 300 gr bullets?
Interested in user's opinion as to the optimal powder with 300 grs. in a 28-30" barrel.
Thanks
Bill

H 1000 is a good powder for the Lapua case. Reloader 33 worked a lot better and less pressure. Got easily 100 fps more. Matt

I have always run H-1000, Retumbo or R-25. For those of you running R-33 where does it fit in? How many grains area you maxing out at?

Any source for R33? Is it temperature sensitive? I have never seen any data on it and am also interested in info.
Thanks
Bill

This data is a 24" barrel

Precision reloading in mitchell sd had it in stock a while back it hasn't changed speed through my chrono from 40 degrees to 90 so think its good.

Yes it is a stick powder, Looks like 4831 on steroids. Yes it is slower than Retumbo. Fits in between there and Reloader 50. Doesn't meter very well, but seems to be a good powder with good temperature Stability. It is made is Sweden where the other RE17 and RE 50 are made. Not in Australia like the rest. Burns with a less progressive pressure curve like RE17 and RE 50. That's how you get the velocity. Seems to be a good powder in overbore cases and big cases.
