I recently picked up a couple hundred 230 grain Berger Hybrid Targets for an unfired300 WM rifle. Rifle is a smithed Rem 700 in McM stock with Krieger SS 1-10 twist 5R 26" (just over 27 with brake). I have Nosler Brass, Fed 210M and 215M primers.
Powders I'm looking at are H1000, Retumbo, and IMR 7828. I thought retumbo would be best burn rate. I can get at least a pound of each of these powders but there is a much more reliable supply of the IMR 7828. IMR powders for some reason seem less popular these days but I have had good luck with 4895 and 4064 in 308.
Interestingly Sierra lists 7828 as the accuracy load with the their 240gr SMK (different bullet I know). 72.8 gr pushing 2750 fps. COAL 3.600 out of a longer barrel than the rest of their data.
Does anyone have any experience or info they can add on these powders. Lot to lot variation, accuracy from pet loads, temp sensitivity... I'd test all three myself but that could burn up some barrel life unnecessarily.
