Powder for 223 in a progressive

XTR

F-TR obssessed shooting junkie
Is there a small grained powder that will work well in a throw and work behind 77s at mag length from 600 yards or do I really need to use something extruded for those?

AA2230 was developed for the .223.I forgot benchmark as well, really accurate powder for me with match loads in my ar.Run a few cases to see which one meters the best.I also love h335,blc-2,ww748 etc, they all work real well in the .223 Remember the .223 is the most powerful cartridge in the wprld according to uncle joe.

A shooting buddy of mine that does a lot of three gun shooting has found that CFE 223 with 77gr bullets works great for him in several of his AR's. This powder meters really well, and since it is a ball powder it is much like 335, TAC, BL-C2 ect.. I can't remember the exact charge, but he uses CCI SR Primers and of coarse seats to mag length. Look at the IMR 8208 XBR, it is a small grain extruded powder. Benchmark is real good with 50-55's but I don't have experience with heavier than that. Both meter well for being an extruded.

I use TAC exclusively in my WOA match rifle with weights from 52-80, and guess what, all at 23.5 grains, works just fine, very accurate. (The charge weight wasn't an accident, just worked out as the best loads). In my Dillon 550, the drops are as accurate as if I weighted each charge.
