Powder cup recommendations??

I know this subject has been kicked around but I'd kinda like to get some newer input! I was using a buddy's SuperTrickler, but he needed it back and when it went, the powder cup he loaned me along with the trickler went too. Now I have had to revise my powder measuring routine and am horribly spoiled by the cup he loaned me, but am having difficulty finding something that will NOT break the bank (and my new routine now needs to have TWO powder cups!) Everything I've tried seems to have either one or both of the common problems, which are (1) static and (2) grains bouncing (splashing) out of the cup as they are dispensed. I have found a couple of cups on the net that look like they'd be nice to use, but TWO of them would cost in the $140 to $150 neighborhood including shipping/tax and that would just totally fold, spindle and mutilate my spare cash account!!

So far it looks like I'll have to get a chunk of round aluminum and machine out a couple and then figure out some kind of decent way to make and attach a handle. The only advantage I can see to doing this is that I could likely produce them to weigh in the neighbor of.02 grains of each other (maybe less if I'm REALLY careful) and I just don't have the time and/or patience to do that.

SOO... what I am wondering if anyone has any experience/ideas that would get me what I think I need! Any help??? The PIC is what the one that my friend loaned me looked like and I never had a static problem or granules bouncing/splashing out, but those are fifty bucks apiece!

TIA!!

Not real familiar with the SuperTrickler, but why wouldn't a set or two of the plain aluminum measuring cups (read 'WalMart') for measuring coffee work? Looks like you calibrate to include the cup when setting zero, so the weight (within reason) shouldn't be a big deal. Heck, if it works I might just buy up a few hundred and then resell them as "custom powder cups" for $30 or so each. ;)
Seriously...just a thought.

I use a metal one I bought on this site. Not sure who from.

And your .02 off....a piece of tape will fix that. That's what I did using 2 cups with my chargmaster.

This is a powder cup that I 3d printed for a friend who has the supertrickler. He likes it and states that it doesn't spill kernels like the other cups. It has an elevated mound at the botttom of the cup.

A good friend of mine is into the RC airplane stuff and he does some kind of competition in that. I was showing him what I'm trying to make and why and he said that I should/could use a couple of the prop spinners he has that got (almost invisible to me) damage as a result of a "few" crashes. He brought one over and it looks like we can do a little cutting here and there and a bit of TIG welding and come up with something useful/workable. I think it might be kind of fun! Between the two of use we have O/A, TIG, MIG, welder, a plasma cutter and a milling machine and a lathe. I'm guess that if we both put our skills and heads together we can come with some kind a solution! Gonna try it!!:p

doninremo,

The old plastic cups with the V2 version of the AutoTrickler were great! No static buildup, wiped clean with a good chemically recognized cloth, minimized kernel bounce.

Unfortunately, I'm unable to find the cups or the arm for the cups. The current glass cups hold back my reloading efforts, since I can't tell when something bounces out of the cup and the weights of the two cups I possess (manually added) varies over time. Two years at this point.

I'd be similarly concerned about 3D printed cups.

If you TIG weld just get a couple of these, there are all different sizes on here and TIG welt a handle on it. Or you can look at the aluminum measuring cups/spoon on there, they have some with handles.

Looking forward to what you come up with. please let us know. Pictures too.
Worked on the project this morning. and have some pics, but this thing won't let me attach them. Sorry! Maybe I'll try it in a PM...

These are pretty easy to print, and my friend who has the SuperTrickler uses it all the time and says it works better than anything else he has tried.

I made a cup from stainless steel shot glasses from Amazon, because I wanted to avoid any grains sticking in it, due to static electricity. I cut off the height of the cup to just under the discharge point of the powder dispenser. Also make sure you drop the powder into the cup , hitting the sloped side rather than the bottom.
Here is my cup

I soldered a thin metal handle to the cup, but you could epoxy it there as well.

Cup on Amazon ( 70 ml) that I used.

Here is a 30ml cup that may also work

Worked on the project this morning. this is the result so far...left one is a 100 grain load of H4831SC and the right one is a shot of the inside. Having trouble posting PICS! Tried to post s a couple of shots of the spinner I started with, but couldn't get them to attach! This one in the PICS is too tall for what I need and I'm gonna try shortening it.

You ought just go ahead & turn one out on the lathe-IMG_7490.jpegIMG_7489.jpeg

OK..here's the next one, still in the home lathe. Had to stop to watch the super bowl, so tomorrow we'll see how it turns out . Well, OK..I give up! I keep getting this when I try to post the picture: "Oops! We ran into some problems. ..."...... I give up!!
