Powder choices for 6BR

Looking for suggestions on powder choices for a 6BR with a 8"twist and 107 Sierra's. Since Varget is the best choice and there is none available I need to use what I have till I can score some. Currently I have AA4064, IMR 4895, AA2520. The rifle will be used at 300-600 yards for the balance of the year. I would also entertain other choices if I can find them at a local shop.

Thanks, Longone

Reloader 15 or 4895. Be prepared to change primers with any powder that you try. It just might keep you from overlooking a good load. Trust me. ;) WD

Since you have some IMR 4895, I'd go ahead and work up a load and see how it works for you. Personally, I don't shoot the long distance bullets like 107's, but have a friend whose had good success with the IMR 4895 in 600 - 1K with his 6mmbr. I also use IMR 4895 or RE15 and Varget in my .308 when I'm low on the Varget. Just have to work up the load that works best in YOUR PARTICULAR RIFLE.

Did a test Saturday 30 gr Varget 105 hybrids 30'' 2885fps 33gr H 4350 2895 fps 4- 3 shot groups all under 1/4'' std of 3'. I know where my Varget will stay. H 4350 takes 22'' of barrel to get 95%of velocity Varget is 11'' for 95% of velocity Q load Varget .58100 psi H4350 57043 psi

Thanks guys, I have some testing ahead of me. Maybe if I'm lucky I can get AA4064 to work, it's a real short extruded and should be able to get enough in the case to get some good velocity if not IMR4895 will get the nod.

I tried aa2520 and it was a no go--fine in my long range ar-15 but not my 6br. I have switched to imr 4320 with berger 105 hybrids and am getting very fine accuracy--almost on par with my previous varget load

Keep your eyes open for IMR 8208 XBR also. Along with Varget, it is king in my barrels shooting the 107MK in 1-8TW Kriegers. I found the Reloader 15 to be VERY temp sensitive. You have to use what you have - I know the feeling.

I was looking at IMR 8208 but "reports" had it that there were two different burn rates for this powder. Apparently there was a faster 8208 that was released early on then they slowed it down. So now that the dust has settled is there any truth to this or were folks trying to make it work in everything?
