Potter County, Pa and Tioga County, Pa area

If anyone here lives in that area and can tell me roughly what per cent of the hay has been cut despite the last month being almost constant rain, it will be appreciated, Thanx in advance.

I dont know about there but i hunt all around western pa and almost nothing has been cut yet.

Used to go to Potter Co. When my wife's grandparents were alive. Beautiful country with lots of animals there. She still has an aunt and cousins there but don't like them enough to go back and visit.

Lots of rain and uncut fields here in Crawford County Pennsylvania. I have also had lots of my fields plowed into corn or oats the last couple years but this is not unusual due to crop rotation.

Can anyone in the Bradford, Potter, Tioga area update the hay and crop length reports.Dying to go, just need some eyes on because I am a LONG way away.

Most of the bigger farms are cut since they are bagging. Look on facebook for Johnny Painter ............. They let you hunt on their farms also.

Southeastern Pennsy, most hay fields have had a second cut and with ideal growing conditions, the early beans and hay are too high to see much. Wheat fields that have been recently cut and planted with late beans are showing some hogs taking up residence in old holes. Will be going on patrol this evening.

Wow, the problems of being so far away. I have been asking for help since june q and until now, no one has said hay was being cut and now I see your area is on second cut with crops blocking many good routes.

Thought I would report on my trip to Potter County, Pa for long range groundhog hunting. Took my second trip there, there first about July 1 and the latest this Tuesday with the goal to shoot the entire month of August,

I can report that in this county, reputed for about 100 years as the "Woodchuck" Capital of the U,S. I was looking only for areas where 800 add and up shots were possible.

The county and nearby NY counties were almost completely devoid of Groundhogs. They were not visible as road kill and 3 days of hard driving back roads produced on running hog near a wood burn pile.

The Coyotes that we all know have devastated our targets have done in some areas almost completely. I returned home late last night after well over 1700 mile trip and a big gas bill.

There will still be smaller fields on the east coast, particularly with beans, that will produce, mostly critters stepping out of the protection of the woods for a measured amount. Any hog traveling too far from the woods will leave a scent trail that the first coyote will follow and take him out.

I am devastated by the reality and wonder what good my well tuned wildcats are to me now. I likely will have to work harder to shoot much less distance, likely over beans.

I welcome hearing about your experiences and rate of chance over the last couple of years.

Still whacking them ins SE Pa rimfire only area. Farmers told me it's the worst they've ever seen. Looks like a fourth cut on the hay too but corn is hiding a bunch of holes. Last outing my hog buddy shot seven in a couple hours. Now if we could only use semi-s here, I have a 10/22 converted to 17HM2 to use.

I was over near Bedford on Saturday.saw some hay cut along 220 south to the turn pike.could not see if there was any farms that was posted .

Been hunting in Dutchess county New York with a buddy of mine for 30 years for the last five years the woodchuck population has declined drastically I guess because of the coyotes just wondering if you knew of a good spot or county in New York state with a woodchuck population is better than what we’re dealing with now thank you

l hunted black bear in Potter County/Coudersport back in the early 90s with a buddy l had met during Desert Storm. Bear season in Pa back then was the weekend before deer season around Thanksgiving. George's family had a deer camp in the area. We hunted together several seasons in around Potter County. Never got a bear but got a chance to see some beautiful country and meet some great people. The down side was Pa Game Wardens and Police tho... Don't EVER go hunting in Pa driving a truck with South Carolina plates. We got stopped an average of 5 times a day. Ck license, registration, ins card. Then ck your bear license, hunting vest, ck gun to see if its loaded...

About the same 'friendly' greeting we got a couple yrs later hunting prairie dogs on the RoseDUD Sioux Reservation.. You have to hire a ''native guide'' to hunt tribal land. The guide's brother is a tribal warden hiding behind the next hill waiting to write you a ticket for ANYTHING:(
