Possible to tighten up RimX headspace?

I picked up a Proof prefit barrel for my RimX, and it seems to really like the Eley Extreme Long Range ammo. Out of about 150 rounds, I’ve had a couple of misfires. For context, I’ve run roughly 500 rounds of other manufacturers’ ammo through the rifle with zero misfires. From what I understand, Eley tends to have a thinner rim, which means it prefers slightly tighter headspace. I’ve heard that on some .22 setups you can shim the bolt to close things up a bit. Is there a way to do something like that on the RimX?

I can almost say for certain that your issue isn't headspace. You explain that 500rds of brand X ran with no issues, but Eley had a couple of misfires in 150rds. Take a good look at the pin strikes on both brands. Going to bet you'll see no difference. Eley for the last several years has shown spotty ignition at times because the primer material doesn't always stay in the rim. Don't know if you tried it, but if you rotated one of the misfired rounds in the chamber and wacked it again, it probably would have gone off. I shoot a lot of Eley and I have only one rifle that mostly curtails the misfire issue. It's a Turbo with a crescent firing pin in it. It makes a wide strike on the rim and in thousands of rounds of Eley it has only failed to fire twice.

Yeah I was able to fire the misfired cases by rotating them.
