possible Federal 210M issue

Hoping these are being used in bolt guns?
The 210 and 210M are specifically not recommended for use in autos.

300 WSM in Norma brass.

I sent an email over to Federal just to get confirmation.

I appreciate all the feedback on this question.

I don't have any 210's but I do have some GM215M's, large rifle magnum primers and checking them I see no excessive red material. I stand corrected if this is in fact some sort of detonation retardant and not priming compound. Whatever it is, there appears to be more of it in this lot of primers than in others and more than in other primers within the same lot. Whether this is a problem or not, I can't say because I've never shot a primer with red material coming out of it that I've noticed. It certainly gives one pause to ask the question concerning the inconsistent appearance.
215's have purple. The colored stuff varies from completly plastered to very light. I believe it is sprayed on after the primer is made. Matt

You learn something new every day. I did not know that there was such a compound added to primers from Federal - let alone in different colors and thicknesses. We've all seen countless thousands of primers belly up and I just never noticed this in Federal primers. Granted, I use many more CCI primers than Federal but GM205M's are my go to primer for 30BR and I've tested GM215M's in 7 SAUM but ultimately settled on CCI BR-2 for that round. Thank you for the information. I'll pay more attention and keep an eye out the next time I'm using federal primers and see if I can discern this material.

To the OP - hopefully you will hear that all is well from Federal.
