The guy don’t know what he is talking about.I have shot hundreds of hollow points through my suppressors with no problem.I just picked up my first suppressor today, a Rugged Oculus 22. The guy at the shop told me to never shoot hollow points through a 22 suppressor, as they could damage it. Is this accurate, and how could they damage short of a strike?
Yeah, I read the manual, but there is nothing in there about it, and I am just waiting for the manufacturer to get back to me.I would tell you to read the manual that came with it.
Also, if I have had any doubts as to the structural limitations of any of my suppressors I called the manufacturer's tech support.
It seemed a bit odd to me, but with my limited experience with suppressors, I wanted to double-check. I prefer hollow points for small game and varmints. The guy don’t know what he is talking about.I have shot hundreds of hollow points through my suppressors with no problem.
That's how I treat the guys at archery shops, but I have a ton more experience in that realm compared to suppressors."The guy at the shop told me" << um yeah just nod and smile, then do your own research because most of them have no idea what they are talking about. Obviously if the manufacturer doesn't have anything mentioning it, you could ask them but if it were an issue they would have it on more than a few of their docs.
Nevermind.Maybe he meant rat shot.
Gun shop employees aren't always gun guys.
If you shoot a caliber that the suppressor is rated for, then there should never be a problem. But like mentioned before, always consult with the manufacturer if you ever have any questions. The problem that I’ve seen is if someone has a .22 caliber rated suppressor but they can stick a .243 bullet in the muzzle end, they think it’s ok to shoot their .243 or 6mm through that can.I just picked up my first suppressor today, a Rugged Oculus 22.
