Porting a barrel

I was thinking about porting my barrel. It is a cheap savage and I wanted to experiment. I do machinework at the j o b, have a lathe and a drill press at home that i do hot rod projects with. Wat is the best way to deburr the holes in the bore. It there a formula for total area of holes drilled etc. Thanks in advance for any help.

best thing would be to drill your holes, and then bore/ream out the barrel aprox .030", for the length of the drilled out portion.
since you have a lathe it would be much easier to fit a good brake and have better recoil reduction.

Thanks Jim. You are correct, and I have done that before. This is for a grand nephew project. Very low budget.
