Portable Reloading

I just purchased a 40 acre property about 30 miles from home. After some work, I hope to have a descent place to shoot rifles there. Rather than preloading and running back and forth, I'd like to put together a small reloading setup that is easily transported. Like most loaders, I have extra gear.

I have an RCBS Rockchucker mounted on an Inline Fabrication stand. I kind of like having this at home for knocking out primers with the auto-eject and double bin system, but I'm not against using that press. Perhaps the stand could be useful for portability?f

I have an RCBS Chargemaster that has been serving me well for many years, but I have mostly been using a Super Trickler at home. I have a power outlet on my truck, that I'd imagine with a power filter should power it just fine.

I also have an older starter press I was gifted second hand which I had figured to use for bullet swaging down the road. I believe it is a Lee Challenger press.

Will that Lee load good, straight ammo with consistent shoulder bumps? Or would it be an exercise in futility? I KNOW the Rockchucker will work fine for this task, but I wouldn't mind keeping it at home especially since I have the stand and ejection setup for it.

Also any tips for building a portable reloading station would be appreciated. If you have pictures of your setup, post 'em!

Thank you!

I would look to do a brass prep and primer seating at home. Then you can just adjust charge weight and seat there. Fashion up a small bench that will secure in back of vehicle or utilize the hitch on truck to built a table that slides in.
If you want to get away from a press being out there and having to secure it, you could look at an arbor press and micrometer seating dies.
@jackieschmidt reloads at the range often
He's got a photo he's shared a few times that I'm sure you can find and see his set up.

The arbor press was a thought I had, but working up loads for hunting rifles and varmint rifles would lead to a whole lot of new dies. For my competition rifle, that is the ticket I think.

Do a search on the forum and you’ll find a few threads on this subject, below is the link to one of them.

I like the idea of a portable press while doing load development. I think I would mount an InLine Fabrication Quick Mount plate system to the portable bench and press. This would make transportation much easier. Easy to remove the reloading press with only 2 thumb nuts to remove by hand (no tools required).

Most of my reloading has been done at the range, including a relatively short "career" shooting short range group benchrest. I can put everything that I need to reload in a case that I can easily pick up with up with one hand. If you are interested in what my kit looks like, PM me, and I can email some pictures. I have a lot of range and bench building experience, so I can help you there as well.
