Portable Benchrest top

What would be a nice size or dimentions for a benchrest top that has to switch from LH to RH? I have a piece of butcher block top 25.625''x49.5''x1''thick that I got at the IKEA store. We thought rather than flipping it over to change sides we could just rotate 180deg. on the center post.

I made one that is tapered from 3/4 inch plywood & some 2x3's....about 32 inches long ...four inches back from the front edge draw a line to the back edge only 14 inches wide...use three solid screw in legs forms a tripod effect 30 inches tall..two front, one rear...I cut a small rectangle in the left side just past the half way point one inch in from the edge..a plastic tupperware tray/box slips in there for ammo..when removed it is a neat carry handle, very portable for hunting groundhogs...mike in ct

I came up with a top we tried out Sat. It measured 25-5/8x49-1/2,the std. piece I bought) then I made two cut outs 10x19 on the front and rear corners on the same side. By rotating it 180deg it converts to RH. I'm going to make them a little deeper ~12'' The base is simmilar to that varmintmaster bench that uses the leg adjustments like the Freeland spotting scope base but the 3' legs are easily removed for transport. The center post is 4'' tubing with a tapered bearing on the bottom with 2 lock bolts for the swing. I tried the bench out and it's very stable. I was hunting two fields Sat. and it sure is nice being able to swing from left to right:) I ended up with 3 Ghogs between 360m-450m missed one at 260m,shot over his head)
I made one last year with the 2 pcs of 3/4'' plywood glued together. The legs are aluminum pipe that telescope out from 3'-4' so you can sit or stand. On top I have a swinging 1/8''alum. plate with alignment holes for my Bald Eagle rest and on the rear is 2 ears to keep the rear bag aligned.

Here's last years portable.
