Poor dealings with Hank Smith NC

Just purchased an Anschutz 54ms from Hank Smith from N.C. last week. Upon inspection the barrel is completely pitted from end to end. Their are some other cosmetic issues but Im not too concerned with them. I contacted Hank and he stated the gun is "as is" and its too bad. First time I have ever been burned in a firearm sale. Its obvious this rifle wasn't well maintained since 22 rimfire barrels just don't wear out. Sorry but I would stand behind anything I would sell. Beware guys!

i read the feedback you left him but i cant seem to find the post where he originally had it for sale...it would be nice to see his for sale post to see what he did and didnt disclose to you in the post...In his defense, he may have never known the barrel was pitted from end to end on the inside of the barrel like you stated seeing with a borescope...not everyone has a borescope or has access to one...and i assume you are referring to a hawkeye...

what im getting at is if he offered an inspection time then he is in the wrong if you discovered the flaws and were not happy with it before the close of the inspection time...if he didnt offer, or if you didnt request an inspection time then i agree with him you purchased it as is

I have strongly recommended that, when you purchase an expensive item, you negotiate a reasonable inspection period. This is covered in my tips for buyers and sellers that I have asked everyone to read. Most of the issues that have arisen lately have involved sales without an agreed inspection period. If the seller refuses, maybe you should look elsewhere.
