Polymer coated bullets for 45 ACP

Any comments on polymer coated bullets? It has been so long since I've reloaded for my 45 acp that now there are these "new fangled" polymer coated bullets.

I've used lead in the past but didn't care too much for the mess, so I kinda figured I would use FMJ. Then I saw the polymer coated bullets and would use these instead if they come recommended.

Any comments?

Thanks in advance.

I am shooting the polymer bullets

and they are a great bullet. I am shooting the 225's and they are very accurate and do not lead the barrel at all. They are a far step ahead of the regular cast and lubed bullet.

My loads are 3.5g of Bullseye with the 225 for practice and
8.0g of AA#5 for self defense. I do use an upgraded 24# spring for the 8.0g of AA#5 at 875 fps with the extra poundage on the spring taking some of the kick out of the felt recoil.

If you want to try the 200g, then 4.1g of Clays with a 24 lb spring makes the 45 feel like a cap pistol under recoil and is very accurate.

I am in no way affiliated with the company, just think that they are a great bullet and no messy lube to deal with at all!

Great stuff Keith, thanks for the help! I also appreciate the "recipe" data too. It's been a while for me. Your info is enough for me to give them a try.

I got a "Page not found" from your link, and couldn't find the 225's. Not that it matters much...so many other good choices. However, I am curious to know exactly what you have had good luck with. Do you use round nose, flat nose, etc?

I have a Colt Commander that I had ramped long ago, but I still ran into feeding problems with some lead wadcutters that I had tried long ago. I assume these polymer coated bullets are a bit more "slippery" as well. ,I've never held one to know.)

Thanks again,
