polygonal rifling

Is polygonal rifling as accurate as normal rifling? I have heard that it lasts alot longer than conventional rifling. Or could you cut polygonal rifling for the first few inches and then transfer to conventional rifling to give it a longer throat but still act like a forceing cone and also get the bullet spinning/moving before contacting the rifling?

It doesnt matter what kind of rifeling you have.
It could be cut or buttoned. Accuracy comes from a properly made barrel that is smooth with no cutter or reamer marks and is lapped to a uniform dimension.
To say one style is better then another , would be untrue.
As long as the barrel is of high quailty accuracy will follow

Going from polygonal to regular rifling would probably hurt accuracy. When fired the bullet conforms to the barrel. Changing shapes would make the bullet change shape again. In the process, the center of gravity and the center of spin could change making the bullet precess. It would also weaken the jacket in some areas and work harden it in others making it likely to fail and harder to seal into the barrel.
