Polygonal bores...Advantages?

From the looks of it, I am guessing it does not get as hot as fast? Is easier to clean? Faster?

These are guesses for looking at them. What is the good and bad about them?

They are easier to clean, do seem to offer slight velocity advantages and seem to be just as accurate as other forms.

They don't "wear out" as fast, therfore gunsmiths don't have as much work. They aren't "mainstream" but as soon as I get my tax return I'm getting another Schneider 5P,have one, done by GAP). They clean up as easily as any barrel I have seen and the current one I have,308 WIN) I am getting higher velocities using factory spec'd loads,Lapua & Vihta Vouri) 170 gr bullet & N150. Go figure. What's not to like ?

Hi Will the 5R barrels are not Polygonal not many people make true poly gonal barrels heve a look at a Glock Pistol barrel or a H&K rifle barrel they are true poly barrels they do not have true groves they are more like small radiuses meeting each other around the barrel all the corners are rounded off.
