Polishing MiM Surfaces

Everyone has an opinion, I like to defer to those wiser than I, which encompasses most. Can you polish MiM sears and contact surfaces without exposing the soft inner metal?
I'm talking about just some Flitz and felt rather than outright stoning.

Simple answer is yes. Quality MIM is very good parts, folks get bent out of shape when the word MIM comes into play. I have shot thousands of rounds through 1911/2011's that has had MIM parts that I built. If some of the later corvette connecting rods held up, some of them were MIM rods, then quality MIM parts are fine.

Appreciate the responses. My older revolvers have never had MiM parts, I've never worked with them and am only familiar with the concept that they are only hard a few thousandths deep.
Wasn't sure how much one could get away with.
