Poker Shoot Questions

Hi all

This is my first post on the forums so Hello everyone!

Had some question about Poker Shoot competitions. I was wondering what the standard set of rules are.

I have read about Pistol Poker Shoots where you take the target with 52 cards on it and staple it to the backing face down. Shoot 5 rounds each into the target and whoever has the best hand wins.

But what I am looking for is a more skill based long range rifle version. I've been kicking some ideas around in my head about making the cards approx 1 MOA for x distance. Then have shooters take turns firing. I'd like to make it a thinking challenge as well as a skill challenge. I'd like the shooters to be able to have a couple different options on which card(s) they could shoot. Not just have someone shoot 4 Aces or what have you.

I've been trying to come up with something the past couple weeks but haven't had any luck so far. I'm hoping some of you have a few cool ideas I could try.

Why not do a flush, straight, full house best hand?

shooter #1 gets the aces
#2--the kings
#3-- the queens,,,etc
Three shots each,,then pull the hit cards,,then 2 more shots,,etc,,till there is one left,,run the game out.
First game, face up, don't let anyone but the RO know who has what cards.

Second game, face up, tell everyone who has what cards or put them on a public list, this usually gets the top shooter out early and others have a chance to win. Add some fun buy offering a side $ dollar bet for each person that can hit the top shooters cards.

Third game, face down ,,blind elimination,,It's always more fun for all if several folks can win,,face it, there are always 1 or 2 really good shooters that win most matches, if thier good natured they can take a little ribbing and a loss from time ta time.
