poi moving,whats going on?

22-250,kreiger, rem 700 pillar bedding, 8 oz trigger, lapua brass, 60 berger, vv540(36grains) .025 " jump and it makes a very small hole...in the ones! three days ago the group was 1/2 in. to left of zero, clicked right 1/2 (leupold 6.5-20) and waited to go ghog hunting. yesterday helped a buddy zero his gun and just for conformation shot the above load and ZAP! 1/2 in. to the right of zero! what is going on? all loading done at the same time, runout the same, brass all same weight, but temperature cooler than previously, AND the loaded cases were in my vehicle riding around for two days with the powder settling as if it was loaded with a drop tube,,,packed. is this possibly the cause of my shifting point of impact? the gun was shot a few prior to each test. this is a beautifully accurate load but i cannot understand the shifting poi. anybody? thanks.

Sounds more like a change in range conditions. If sighted in in a right to left push and re-fired under a left to right push, this would be normal. Range conditions change from day to day and will affect your zero according to direction and intensity.

Sounds familiar. I belong to 4 different clubs. Any of my rifles can be sighted-in exactly for 1,2 & 300 yds., at one club, go to any of the other 3 and there will always be at least a couple of clicks of correction for that range. Same distances, rifle, ammo, bench equipment, & basic weather conditions. Can really get frustrating.

Where you using wind flags? Was the wind blowing either day?

^^^ That might be your problem. Try a different scope. You didn’t say what you’ve got for rings and bases so…..

He probably doesn't own the rifle anymore. I asked the moderator if he would delet all original post over 5 years old. He refused. I lot of folks chimed in that old info might be good. I said something like we don't need 1000 post on how to lube a case, how I determine touch or this is how I anneal. Many of the same questions repeat every few weeks. I am quilty of responding to old post a few times.

Yes I’ve been guilty also in replying. I agree with Paul I don’t want them deleted as there good info and I refer to them a lot!… I just acquired a 1886 Winchester in 45/70 so I looked through the archives here and got a lot of useful information. Some were several pages long and may take some time to go through, I can see how it happens someone posted something you want more info on or whatever and the next thing you know your replying to a dead thread. We just need to keep that in mind when we’re surfing old threads.

There can be info posted in old posts, by people that are not around anymore, that is worth gold to people these days. Bits of info you won't find anywhere else by the people that work(ed) in the industry, who wrote the reloading manuals, who tested the data, performed experiments, stories and debates by people who actually knew something or know something. Some of that info is disappearing due to forums being shut down thanks to FB and Instagram and etc, some is relegated to the internet archives, if a person can figure out the search terms to find it. There is some that has never been posted to the internet as well, only around thanks to a library here or there.

When I log in I started hitting the "new post" at the top left of the screen. Looks like it brings up a list of new repies in chronological order not new original post. It helps keep my head straight. I'm trying to check the dates before I run my mouth.

Some post llike how do I lube cases and determine touch don't need old references. The moderator would have to decide what to get rid of. We are not talking about national defense info here.
