As you can see I am a newby and would like some advise
I have a custom Remington in 6mm BR Norma blue printed with 22 inches i in 08 twist and I am very happy hunting small deer with 100 grain Nosler ballistic tips. At the range I am getting under 0.5 an inch all the time from a bench using Varget.
My gunsmith call recently to inform me that he has a new reamer in from the states for the 6.5 x 47 Lapua and 6 x 47 Lapua. I also have a Sako TRG in 308 which I shoot tactical McQueen's competition in the UK.
What he suggested to me is as follows:
Sako TRG no barrel to 6.5 x 47 with 10 shot capacity to shot tactical. This should out perform the 308 anytime up to 600 metres/ yards
Re chamber the 6mm BR which I am shooting well 3000 round count to date to 6 x 47 lapua retaining the 1 in 8 barrel. The reason is that I am getting feeding problems with the 6mm BR Norma effectively rendering the multi shot capability useless.
Any suggestions is this a daff idea..............
PLAN:
Remington 6 x 47 small dear up to 300 m distance and varmint
Sako 6.5 x 47 tactical prone shooting 300m and 600m on the range only.
What kind of group likely with either of these guns can I realistically expect please
I am also very tempted to get a 22 BR extra action barrel set for my son who is 15 learning so he starts with something very low recoil and very accurate to develop his confidence.
